 | Tokyo Station
Tokyo Station is one of Japan's busiest railway stations and the terminal of multiple shinkansen lines. The red brick building on the station's Marunouchi side was originally constructed in the Meiji Period. The station includes an art gallery, hotel and department store.
Tokyo Station Gallery (art gallery): Open Tuesday to Sunday, 10:00 to 18:00 (until 19:00 on weekdays); closed on Mondays except if Monday falls on a public holiday, in which case the gallery will be closed on Tuesday. Admission: 800 Yen, may change depending on the exhibition. |
 | Marunouchi Building (Marubiru)
Opened in 2002 just in front of Tokyo Station, the Marubiru is Marunouchi's new landmark. Shops and restaurants are located on the floors B1 to 6 as well as on the two top floors 35 and 36, while office and business space occupies the floors in between.
Shops are open from 11:00 to 21:00 (20:00 on Sundays and public holidays), restaurants from 11:00 to 23:00 (22:00 on Sundays and public holidays). |
 | Marunouchi Oazo
Opened in September 2004, Oazo is a new shopping, dining and hotel complex just next to Tokyo Station. Four of Oazo's 18 floors are occupied by the Maruzen bookstore with a large foreign language section, while the top ten floors constitute the Marunouchi Hotel.

The Tokyo International Forum is one of the city's many architectural highlights. It is a venue for various conventions, exhibitions, concerts and other events. An event calendar can be found on the official website (see link at the bottom of the page).

 | Imperial Palace
Tokyo Imperial Palace, the residence of Japan's Imperial Family, stands on the former site of Edo Castle. The outer moats can be reached in a five minute walk from Tokyo Station. Please visit our Imperial Palace page for more details.
The inner palace grounds are not accessible to the public except on pre-arranged tours. The outer moats, gates and bridges, as well as the East Gardens (see below), however, can be seen free of charge. |
 | Imperial East Gardens
The Imperial East Gardens are the only part of the inner palace area, which is open to the public. Among others, they feature Japanese and Western style gardens and the foundation of Edo Castle's former donjon. Please visit our Imperial East Garden page for more details.
Open 9:00 to 16:00 (until 15:30 from November to February). Closed on Mondays and Fridays. If Monday is a public holiday, the gardens will be open on Monday, but closed on Tuesday. Closed from December 28 to January 3. Admission is free. |
